This Day In Baseball History: August 10, 1998

August 10, 1998

On this day in 1998, at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, in a game between the hometown Padres and the Florida Marlins, Harry and Hunter Wendelstedt become the first father-son combination to umpire a Major League Baseball game. Harry (father) is calling the balls and strikes while Hunter (son) is working at third base. They will remain on the same umpiring crew for the remainder of the season.

The Marlins win the game 3-2.
