This Day In Baseball History: September 13, 2002

September 13, 2002

It was on this day in 2002, that Baltimore Orioles’ shortstop Mike Bordick played in his 96th consecutive errorless game, setting a new record for American League shortstops. The previous record of 95 was held by another Orioles’ shortstop, Cal Ripken. It would be another 15 games before Bordick finally committed an error, setting the Major League record in the process, ending his streak at 110 games.
The Orioles won the game on September 13 at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox by a score of 8-3. Bordick collected a hit, knocked in a run and scored one himself in the victory.
